Project Black PC (part 4)
Sorry about the dull name.
I really didn't want to end up doing too much to this PC but the more I though about it, the more a theme or an over all look developed in my mind. I'd had a Cooler Master Musketeer in the old PC for a while and wanted to keep it however I had decided I wanted the PC to be black, green and a hint of copper. The Musketeer is black with blue dials. I found myself wondering how easy it would be to change the dials.
OK very pretty.. But it has blue meters and that simply won't do. Where's my screwdriver? |
"WARNING! Warranty void if this seal is broken" |
Yeah whatever... sound effect of tearing paper... |
Wow! That's a whole lot of PCB for very little in the way of components. |
What's behind this bit of plastic? Ah the meters... I had worried they would be sealed units... They are but only with sticky tape. Who made this? Blue Peter? |
Those LED's (2 behind each meter) provide the backlighting. I had thought I'd have to replace these with green ones but they are white ones... Result! No soldering. |
The meters are alarmingly delicate. They pull apart with a little force but it would be all to easy to slip and pull it right off the circuit board and I suspect they would break away via the terminal inside the back of the meter... That would be a bad thing. The two transparent blue plastic parts are all that need to be replaced to change the meters from blue to green. I'll be spraying the bezel copper I think, and the needle will be florescent green. |
Very rough version of the dial. I will do a better ones for the final version. Print them onto clear film and put the green film behind them. |
